The first part of this chapter is about rich oppressors. He is speaking to the rich basically. People who take advantage of the poor. Talking about what the rich people think is a blessing. Verses 7-12 is mostly about being patient. And in verses 10-11 he gives an example of suffering. He encourages us to look at the lives of the prophets and be grateful for what we have. James encourages us to remain patient when we are suffering bc God is able to bring us through trials or tough times like in chapter 1. We are asked to pray in faith. James point is to pray through trials and everything else good or bad. We want to be pure to God. James is trying to get the point across to you to help someone in need. God could be using you to turn others from a multitude of sin.

James 5 Helps tie a lot of the stuff he has mentioned together. When you look at it there seems to be lots of different topics but can all be related easily. Don't take advantage of the people just like we aren't supposed to judge them. Sometimes the best thing is to wait even though it maybe hard. Its would be great and easy if we planted a crop went to sleep and it was ready to pick/eat/harvest the next day. But just like that people take time as well and we need to be patient with them. There may be some suffering and we need to be okay with that just as he states in James 1. Not all is going to be easy nor in a lot of ways should we want it to be easy. When it all boils down to it there is one simple command. Pray- don't doubt have all the faith and he will help you through the suffering and in 1:5 give you the wisdom you need.

He is saying that the rich will be punished because of the people they have taken advantage of.
Don't do bad things to ruin this life. It's a small part of life that makes such a big difference. God is always judging and really he is the only person who has the right to judge. We need to pray for everything. Philippians 4:6 says that we need to present our requests to the Lord. Through this we might change God's mind.
