In the beginning of the chapter Peter told the other apostles about his vision. During his vision he was in a trance when he saw the Lord come down to earth from the sky. The Lord then told him that anything that has been cleansed by God was no longer considered "unclean." After Peter is done explaining his vision, the other apostles now understand that the gospel can be shared with others like the Gentiles and not Jews like the apostles. Now the apostles traveled and shared the word of God with all kinds of different people. Soon the word reached all the Jews and Gentiles and all of them were saved. Barnabus was sent to Antioch to spread the message of God. He then wanted Saul to join him in spreading the message. This is when the disciples were first called Christians.

I find it interesting that the first thing that they say to his is basically how could you. The Good News is for all and Jesus told them to go and spread it yet what its only for certain people still. They fully didn't understand it. It took a bit but Peter did share his vision and understanding with them, and since they had the Holy Spirit they were allowed to see the truth in Peters words. We get another picture of Barnabas and that he understood the blessing that this was and was filled for joy as now hopefully people would preach to anyone they see not just a select few. That is sort of like us today? What are we doing? Are we only spreading the Word and light to people "like us" who have the same interests, maybe looks, or groups? Or are we spreading the News to everybody no matter what? A great item to think about- are we "selective" or just to anyone? We see and now get the name of Christians but previously I like how Barnabas actually went and got Saul not just messaged for him or waited or anything he knew it was urgent and went himself.

Salvation is for everyone. We should not select people we think deserve salvation because none of us deserve it! As Christians we are called to tell everyone about the Holy Spirit.
