We see strong opposition that they faced as James is killed and Peter is imprisoned. Just like today we face many difficulties and well I'm pretty positive that they aren't as strong as this at least in America, i know in some other countries it maybe. But we complain when we face just a little opposition and all nothing to this extreme. Yet we find here the most important thing that we can do in these times in pray. The church and people prayed and God heard and did something about it. If God has a plan or wants something to be done he fins a way and makes it happen no matter how impossible we might thing it is. I always laugh at the part when the girl hears Peter but doesn't open the door instead goes back with all the excitement and tells others first. Im sure you guys can related in some way- that the joy and excitement overtakes the situation and you almost forget what is at hand. We see what the power of God can do to Herod, yet to me this isn't the only thing to take. We see what pride can do!! Pride can kill us literally in this sense or well in the spiritual sense as well. We see that he got prideful and took the worship and praise for himself rather than giving it to God. I know this extreme probably isn't going to happen to us but a great reminder of how pride can lead to death.

Peters gets sent to prison. Herod had killed James one of the apostles that was close to Jesus. Herod wanted to be popular so he captured Peter and intended to kill him as well. Herod had a total of 16 soldiers watching Peter and his every move. People prayed for Peter to be delivered out of prison. That night an angel came and rescued him. Right after Peter escaped they went to Mary's house and explained what happend. Herod was upset that Peter had escaped. He intended to have all the guards who watched Peter killed. God was unhappy with false teachings of the word that Herod had spoke about. After suffering for 5 days Herod died. This news spread. From then on God's word was widely spread.

Yes, we do not receive opposition this extreme in America. In the extreme and not prayer is powerful. Pride is a terrible thing. As Mike said or Sunday the worst thing about it is that if you are prideful no one can tell you that because you will not listen. The only one that can see that you are prideful is you! But if you do not pride leads to death.
