James 1
Talks about our trials and when we face them we should consider it pure joy, because it is when we are tested that our charcter comes though. If dont know what to do, he tells us to ask God in verse 5 and says he gives generously to all without finding any faults. So it doesnt matter how rough our past is or how many mistakes we have made; if we seek him he will reward us and give him the wisdom needed. We just must do it with full faith not doubting our God who can do anything. When we stand up through all this we get to receive the best gift ever, the crown of life.
Within anything it is never God that is temping us, he doesnt do that. The Temption comes from the desires in us through the flesh and sin. If we dont do anything about these desires eventually leads to death, not so much a phyisical death but spiritual death.
It doesnt end there tough and he urges us to be quick to listen, slow to speak and with in our world this is very hard to do. We are so fast paced and get wrapped up in all the short coming we dont often see the whole picture that God sees. We must not just listen to Gods word but put it into practice and obey him. We can know the most about the bible and be the most holy individual ever but if we dont do anything about it- we are no better than a lamp that is covered up (found in Matthew). He says its as bad as walking away looking in a mirror and forgetting what we look like which we think is pretty outragious, but how often to we come home from sermon or lesson and not do anything about what was just taught to us. We look/listen to this and then go home and forget about everything we just heard.
