Herod was angry at John because he was telling him he was sinning by marrying Herodias, but he did not kill him because he knew that the people would start a riot. Its funny sometimes we say things that seem okay but then we realize we really should should not have said that something like that happened to Herod. I can imagine Jesus being sad and just wanting to be alone but people found him. What sets Jesus apart is that he did not tell the people go away I want to be alone he taught them and gave them what they wanted that is hard to do when you are say or angry. We all need to pray alone sometimes it really makes our relationship with God stronger. Its funny how the disciples say it's a ghost but I might say that too if I just say something walking on water.

Yes we know the ending while they didn't... i wonder what our first reaction would be? even if we knew jesus was with us (well not at that time) but if he was around us today.... what would we think about some of the things he does.
To me the death of John the baptist just seems odd. It seem as though John we know is important but this is all that we really get about it. I don't know really want to say but sometimes we need to think about the things we issue or the commands we say first. We see that Herod wanted to please her, and would do anything, then got the command and was unsure about it and think many of us can relate to that today. We say this or that you wild anything of so and so or to make it right or just something and we fail to look at all the action behind it. Heron knew he was sinning all along for he was the one that placed john in prison for saying these things, he failed to stand up for himself and gave into the commands. We see that one sin can usually lead to many more, and more that are greater.
Can just imagine Jesus in the feeding of 5000. The disciples say sent them to the villages... Jesus says" uhh... no that isn't necessary- you feed them." Uhh but Jesus we only have five loaves of bread and two fish... Can just imagine Jesus thinking... have you guys not been around me enough and seen what i can do. Water to win... walk on water... heal people... come on now guys, just bring them here and i will make it work! Jesus not only preforms awesome thing in these miracles but he also knows what we need and takes care of us.
Yes like you said tanner sometime we just have to be alone and sort of take care of ourselves for a while. Its important to do things for others but also have to make sure we are still healthy as well. Yes again Jesus just feed 5000 people winds get bad... and well they see a ghost. Im sure my faith wouldn't be much more but would hope that it would be and would just cry out "jesus" I just love Peter and what he wants to do... man of action. He walks out and often times like us, we are okay until we decided to look around and see all the other stuff that is around us and take our focus off of Jesus. We need to keep up the faith and keep our eyes (hearts, minds) focused on Jesus and he will keep us "above the water.
