The dynamics are interesting and all here as we know- and if you have heard of any back ground on the story its usually the last person at the table or the one furtherest away from the head that would be the servant and the one wash the peoples feet because they are sitting down on the floor and the walk in sandals... just not a good mix. The person that should have been washing is Peter the one that always as the questions. But when you are with Jesus all things change as we know. This is true leadership by example and true leaders serve their followers. We need to display this as well and we need to let Jesus (God) serve us at times and not always try to take the lead. In this way it humbles both parties. As we go on I just love Peter and don't know if you guys do as well but he is that guy in the group who sort of understand but wants do do everything else and just isn't always sure of everything. Well i foyer re going to wash my feet and this is how I belong to you.... well come on just wash my hands and everything and give me a bath to makes sure that I belong to you!!
As a leader/teacher we need to do the serving and setting the example for others to follow. This is what Jesus does here (14-16) and we are called to set this example and hopefully others follow it. Take a look at actions words and ect and is it the example that we need to set for others to follow. I like 16 and just the reminder that we are better than no on else and even if we have power over them its not really that it jus that we have to set an example we are all equals and if we truly treated people like this it would be much different. There is a BIG DIFFERENCE in LEADING and RULING.
Are we leaders and set the example and get input from others and allow communication to go two ways or we we try to rule and boss people around and that often times out faith and actions don't line up? Im sure you can think of people in your lives that Lead and others that rule and which one do you like to follow more?
I have always found it interesting that its not till Jesus dips the bread and gives it to Judas that Satan enters him. I know his time hadn't come yet but still just find it hard to understand it and how quick and that he was corrupted before and a slow process or something. Just was instant once Jesus did this.
Huge verses here 13: 34-35- "So no I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples." Just love these verses- though very difficult to put into practice always but we need to love people and serve them to show that we Love God and Serve God! Hope these verse impact you today and this week and hopefully forever.
