Chapter 18 is about Judas' disloyalty towards Jesus and his betrayal. As Jesus and his disciples are walking through the Kidron Valley, Judas sees Jesus and walks up to him with a group of soldiers and weapons. Judas said to Jesus that he had been looking for him. Peter defends Jesus by slicing one of the soldiers' ear. Jesus demanded Peter to put the sword away. Jesus then healed the mans injuries. Everyone questions Jesus. Jesus is questioned about his teachings. He has done nothing wrong! He wants everyone know him and know what he's all about. Peter was asked if he is a follower of Jesus. Peter said to the man 3 times that he has no idea who Jesus is. That was very unexpected to Jesus. Some of this was a bit harder to understand for me. But this is how I understood this part-Pilate takes Jesus to the Roman Emperor. The soldiers at the temple asked Pilate if he finds Jesus to be a criminal and then sentenced to death. Pilate wants to release Jesus from all of this. Pilate questioned why Jesus' own people would turn him in. Jesus tells Pilate he only speaks the truth on earth. Everyone wants Jesus to be locked up and never been heard of or seen again. (this is ridiculous!) Pilate agreed to lock up Jesus. From what I think could be wrong but I think Pilate had peer pressure and was pushed into doing the wrong thing. Do what's right and stand up for yourself!

Emma had a really good summary. Yeah, I agree with Emma that is ridiculous all Pilote cared about was that his people did not start a riot against him.
When we sin we say we want Barabbas but Jesus love is so strong he died anyway.

This chapter is about the betray of Judas and one thought that comes to mind is that Judas knew where Jesus was at- one of his favorite places and that sort of shows that we need a place to be our quite place or get away that we go to on a regular basis. Jesus knew exactly what was going to go down and when ask= he didn't say oh he is over there or anything just said "I AM he" no fight needed. But we have the defensive Peter who takes his sword out---- Peter Peter. Then not only does he cut off the ear he begins his denial. They question Jesus but its not like they don't know what he has said. One thing I take from this is make sure that your faith, deeds, actions and what you are broadcasting first isn't for you but is done where people can hear you and know so they can grow. Some times we are a lot like Peter and thats what I like about Peter. Jesus said he would deny him 3 times and if it was me i think this would be on my mid and would try everything I could not too do so--- but the moment got the best of him and he forget what had been said until it was too late. It was "jesus's own people" who lead the protest and brought him in and in so many ways this is the same in our lives that we are the ones that tear each other down the most.

Yes its kind of nice to see that peoples problems and we aren't alone in it. That is one of the biggest reassign for having close friends and then just being open and transparent in a group.
