Paul and Silas face some troubles. There many people in Thessalonia mainly Greeks. The Greeks actually did believe what Paul was preaching. But there were many that disliked Paul and what he was teaching and did not believe. This was the Jews. The Jews liked to play games and get the whole city mad about Paul and his teachings. Some of the Jews envied those who believed in the Lord. After this they headed out of Thessalonia and went to Barea. The people there were willing and wanted to hear more about the word. The Jews heard about Paul's message in Barea and then they came and tried to make people angry about this. Paul and Silas then decide to go to Athens. Many people in the Athens worshipped idols. So Paul really wanted to get the Lord's point acrossed. In the end of the chapter Paul end up leaving the city. He was mocked and could not see change of anyone's minds in that city.

I find it intreguing that there is a little support and also little resistance from them preaching, but the people made it worse by gathering a crowd and basically spread rumors about it and made it worse. Sounds like things today that sometimes not really that bad but then the one person finds more and creates a riot or gathering against someone. We want to be like the people of Berea and welcome things with eagerness and by looking at the scriptures. These people were so upset they weren't willing to let it go and even though the left town they went to the next town to make things harder there as well. We see that no matter where we go the bad also is dragged along and satan won't ever stop pursuing us and trying to tear us down. Paul preaches against these gods and tries to share the good news with them. Their gods only really look about for themselves and what they want but our God was given to us and sacrificed for us! We are made more precious and are more valuable than any idol could ever be!

This sounds like God's not dead 2 they exaggerated what really happened and made her sound horrible. The People of Beria realise all of their scripture are telling of Jesus the Messiah they have just never seen it. The people of beria are able to accept that they are wrong and they need correction. As Mike said on Sunday if you are doing a good job you are going to struggle because we are all human. The Greek gods were created because people did not have an understanding of why certain things happened things happen like why the sun rose and fell. So they make up their silly gods who their worldly minds came up with and these gods never did anything!

Paul is going around preaching the Gospel everywhere he goes. Some people are Berlusconi and some people are not. Paul is really causing riots and conflict for these places because some people are upset with what he is saying. But Paul has the boldness to keep preaching even though he is at risk and all Christians in the towns are at risk.
I really like the Berean section where it states that the Berean's were more noble because they took what Paul said and compared that to the Scriptures. That is something i/we need to do in today's times. We have a lot of voices and opinions out there, but we need to daily compare them to the scriptures to see if they are true.
