We have already read through John so we know a bit about this. But we see John preparing the way and that he was trying to get people to repent from their sins, really no different than what we are called to do today for us. There was people that went down that meant it and then other like the Pharisses and Sadduccess that didn't mean it. John says that we must be a tree that produces good fruit or else be chopped down and thrown into the fire. John knew his spot and place and that one reason think he was successful is that he did it with a since of urgency and also jus that fact that he was humble. He baptized with water and he knew that for he know that after him someone great was coming. Jesus comes to be baptized and i have never thought about it before today that Jesus never really needed to be baptized, he never sinned and therefore didn't need to repent. But Jesus knew that he had to do this and John went ahead and baptized him, even though it should have been the other way around. Being baptized was the right thing to do and even if we don't always need to do smoothing if its the right thing to do then we need to do it. When Jesus came out of the water the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God and it was heard "this is my dearly loved son who brings me great joy." We see a sense of the unified presence and of the trinity in God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit.

This is the story of John and how he is preparing the way for Jesus. He is baptizing people and people are interested in what he is doing. John even confronts the religious leaders very sternly when they come out. John knows the one who comes after him is more important.
Later Jesus comes out and is baptized by John. John does not want to baptize Jesus because he doesn't think he is worthy. But John baptizes Jesus and the Holy spirit comes on Jesus and God speaks in an audible voice that he is pleased with his son.
This chapter shows the importance of baptism. Good was pleased that Jesus got baptized and I'm sure he is pleased with us when we do to.

The Pharisees taught that just because they were related to abraham they had a free pass GOD DOES NOT CARE WHO YOU ARE AS LONG AS YOU KNOW HE IS YOUR SAVIOR!! God judges all fairly the same. John realizes that he needs Jesus and that him calling is to pave the way for Jesus to pass through this is what we are all called to do. Yeah, your right Aaron Jesus never did need to be baptised I think he was humbling himself to our level this is quite a feat considering how great and powerful he is.

God is powerful than anything in this world! We are all called to go down the godly path of righteousness and not down the wicked evil path. Like Tanner said it doesn't matter who you are or whatever just know that he is your savior!!
